About Us
The Wooden Flagpole company started life in 2005 when the owner, Mark Stoddart, was told that it was almost impossible to find traditional wooden flagpoles in the UK. This sounded like a challenge and after extensive research we set up a small business to ensure that historic buildings and people who wanted a traditional, sustainable wooden flagpole could still buy one. Mark is supported by Peter Sharman who is a master craftsman having spent most of his career teaching woodwork and carpentry to young and mature adults. Between them they enjoy making a product that we can all be proud of and will last longer than either of them or their customers if their flagpoles get a little care each year. When not making flagpoles Peter can be found in his own workshop making and crafting very detailed products for his own use, or as gifts for family and friends. Mark can be found on Exmoor, either cycling or with his family and three dogs, or on his 1955 classic wooden boat preparing for a trip down through the canals of France.
